About Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai is proudly referred as the ‘City of the 21st Century’ as it is the largest planned city of the world. Developed as a twin city of Mumbai in the year 1972, Navi Mumbai is home to more than 21 lakh people. Situated on the west coast of Maharashtra, the total area adds up to 344 square kilometers.

Falling under the purview of Thane district, the idea behind developing a planned satellite city was to offload the mounting pressure on the financial hub of India – Mumbai. Vashi is popularly called the King of Navi Mumbai while Nerul is the queen. The city limits extends from Airoli in the north to Uran in the south. Navi Mumbai is of same length as Mumbai and is connected to the latter from Vashi and Airoli Bridges. A new link is under development between Nerul and Uran.

Navi Mumbai is competent with Mumbai on all major aspects including infrastructure and healthcare services. The real estate market in Vashi and Nerul are deemed to be the costliest in the 21st century city. Vast infrastructural developments are taking place at Kharghar and Panvel with a proposed international airport under construction at Panvel, which is expected to create about 5 lakh jobs.

Navi Mumbai is touted as the best education city with each node self-sufficient in imparting quality education. Top engineering institutes like Lokmanya Tilak College Of Engineering (LTCOE), Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering – CBD Belapur and many more are established in Navi Mumbai.
