    If you are a resident of Navi Mumbai, Kanjurmarg, Bhandup, Mulund or Thane, you might have to pay more for electricity from next year. According to Mahagenco, the state power generation company, there may be a rise in generation costs by 30% to 40%, as projected in its 2013-14 business plan. Mahagenco supplies electricity to the state’s power distribution firm, Mahavitaran. The decision on the rise will be taken by the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission next month.

  • ‘Navi Mumbai to get Metro rail by end-2014’ – CIDCO

    Navi Mumbai is set to have its first taste of Metro Rail by December 2014, according to Tanaji Satre, Managing Director, CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.), the nodal agency for the city’s development, at the recently concluded Hindustan Times for Navi Mumbai Conclave 2012, held at Vashi. He also said that the much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport project will be initiated in the next six months.

    According to the report, Navi Mumbai’s Ulwe node is one of the three Mumbai areas that are expected to appreciate the most over the period. The other two areas are Wadala and Chembur. Property rates in Ulwe are expected to rise 145% while in Wadala and Chembur it may hike by 133% and 125% respectively. Of the listed 13 areas, seven spots in the top position belong to Mumbai and Pune.
