DY Patil Stadium to host first ever Ranjhi Trophy match in December

The news published in the Times of India  on 7 October 2012, states that DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host its first-ever first class cricket match at the end of this year. Come December 29 and the stadium will be all set to host a Mumbai vs. Gujarat cricket match in the Ranji Trophy Group A fixture.

D Y Patil Stadium in Nerul shot to fame four years back when it began to host IPL matches. It has hosted two IPL final matches, in 2008 and 2010. Officially inaugurated in March 2008, the stadium is the home ground for IPL team Mumbai Indians.

The sports stadium also houses nine tennis hard courts, four indoor badminton courts, and an Olympic sized swimming pool.
