  • Illegal temple destroyed by CIDCO in Navi Mumbai

    CIDCO has taken a strong stand against illegal constructions keeping aside people’s religious sentiments. They have gone ahead and destroyed Varad Vinayak temple, which was constructed in an illegal spot located near Sector 4A in Koparkhairane. The event took place in the wee morning hours of January 9.

    Defending the razing act, Anil Patil, CIDCO’s chief controller of unauthorized construction, said, “The place where the temple was located was allotted to Manav Sadhan Vikas Sanstha two-three months back. The Manas Sadhan Vikas Sanstha was the owner of the plot, so it was necessary to vacate the place.”

  • NMMC: Expert search and rescue team to be formed in Navi Mumbai

    Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will conduct an intense training session to develop specialized search and rescue team. This team will be in the forefront for rescuing victims of collapsed buildings. With a view to shorten the current long hours of wait for rescue, the proposed team is based on the lines of elite National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

    The new Radio Frequency Identify (RFID) meters employed by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) throughout Navi Mumbai are showing unexplainable exorbitant bills. This scenario has prompted MSEDCL to revert to its original method of taking snapshots of meter reading. The new project was started by the power board as a response to curb all the discrepancies and to provide accurate readings of electricity used by the consumers.
